| | | | | | | Cuenca has a mild Mediterranean climate, moderately fresh to the northeast and milder to the southeast. Practically the whole of Cuenca Province registers an annual rainfall of over 500 mm.
The district possesses a varied plant life. The Alcarria region differs substantially from the mountain area, although no less beautiful, it is dominated by the water erosion of the valley waters and a slight unevenness of terrain.
Gascueña lies in one of the hidden valleys of the Alcarria region in Cuenca Province, among beehives and olive trees. Founded in the 12th century, this noble and loyal village was the old district capital. This goes some way to explaining the majesty of its large church and the elegant houses to be found there. Moreover, it lies near such beautiful areas as Ercávica (the Roman city), the reservoirs, the mountains and the plains of La Mancha.
The magnificent sundowns at Alcarria invite one to relax and enjoy the peaceful and serene spectacle of the star-filled firmament
