Destacan 3 edificios emblemáticos en Santiago Millas:
- "La Casona", antigua casa de postas que pertenecio a Santiago Alonso Cordero, ilustre Maragato,
- La iglesia de arquitectura tradicional que desde un alto une los dos "barrios" que componen el pueblo,
- El Museo de la Arriería Maragata que está instalado en el edificio de la antigua escuela del pueblo, que ha sido cuidadosamente restaurado y que detalla la historia y costumbres de los afamados arrieros maragatos. | | |
| | | | | | | Santiago Millas, declared a village of historic interest in 1998, lies in the heart of the Maragato region, in the foothills of the Teleno mountain and close to the St Jame's pilgrimage route.
It is well known for the typical Maragato arquitecture of its houses, with their stone walls and roofs of arabian tiles. Especially noteworthy are the galleries, esternal corridors and acrhed entrances with huge blue tinted doors.
Santiago Millas has 3 buildings which are of particular interest:
- "The Casona", a beautiful private house which was once an old posting inn.
- The church built in traditional maragato style which, from its elevated situation overlooks the two "districts" which make up the village,
- The Museum of the Maragato Muleteers, installed in the beautifully restored school building, which describes the history, dress and customs of the famous and unique Margato peoples.
